SAG-55 Plus: hot air with a Smart Sleep stand
FNIRSI SAG-55 Plus is a portable 550 W hot air soldering gun with a fan in the handle, sold with a Smart Sleep stand. The fan is in the handle, you power the whole unit with the compact power supply included in the set, and a PID controller holds the temperature from 100 °C to 450 °C.
A magnetic sensor in the handle detects its position: when you put it on the stand, it switches to standby and turns on a stronger cool airflow that cools the heating element faster. When you pick the handle up, it returns to work, and you change the temperature and airflow with the buttons on the handle, next to the 1.54" LCD.

On its YouTube channel, FNIRSI shows a video in which the SAG-55 desolders and re-solders a small SMD component in 20 seconds. For this kind of work, the three saved presets of temperature and airflow come in handy, and you switch between them with one button.

How does the SAG-55 Plus differ from the SAG-55?
Both versions have the same 550 W handle, a range from 100 °C to 450 °C, a 6 mm nozzle and a power supply. The SAG-55 Plus comes with a Smart Sleep stand, while the standard version has a basic metal stand.
When does the handle go into standby?
A magnetic sensor in the handle detects its position and switches it to standby when you put it on the stand. You can set the standby temperature in the range from 70 °C to 100 °C, and when you pick it up, the handle returns to work.
How do I cool the handle quickly?
You turn on cool airflow with one button, and different colors on the screen indicate the current temperature. The manufacturer states that faster cooling extends the life of the heating element.
