How to properly install 3mm and 5mm LEDs?
When mounting LEDs, pay attention to their polarity. The longer lead indicates the anode (positive terminal), while the shorter lead indicates the cathode (negative terminal) . To protect the diode from damage, use a current-limiting resistor with a value matched to the supply voltage and diode parameters – typically between 220 Ω and 1 kΩ. Diodes can be mounted on breadboards during prototyping or soldered directly to PCBs in finished devices. Maintaining the appropriate power supply parameters will ensure stable operation and long component life.
