The ATOMI RS232 Base is a TTL-RS232 converter in the form of a shield for M5Atom series development modules from M5Stack. RS232 is a serial communication standard between devices and enables bidirectional data exchange (full-duplex) – data can be sent and received simultaneously. The ATOMIC RS232 Base ensures smooth and reliable data transmission by precisely defining electrical properties and data protocols. The shield also includes a DC-DC voltage regulator for easy integration with the development module.

What is RS232?
RS232 is one of the oldest and most widespread methods of serial communication between devices. This standard transmits data sequentially, i.e., bit by bit, on a single line, making it simple to use and more resistant to interference. RS232 typically supports relatively low data rates, often up to 115,200 bps, which is sufficient for many applications but slow compared to newer standards.
