Product description: Large switch Push MOSFET MP 4,5-40V/8A - with protection before reverse current - Pololu 2812
The module with a button as an alternative to the mechanical buttons. The switch is bistable, one push turns on the power, and one more press turns it off. Additional inputs allow, for example, for the automatic shutdown. The module operates with the voltage from 4,5 V to 40 V at the consumption of the current of up to 8 A. The board has a small pushbutton and allows for the connection of the external buttons. The current of the switch does not affect the controlled system so you can use different buttons to control a significant amount of the power of the receiver.
Module has the screw connectors and goldpin connectors.
Specification
- Maximum voltage: 40 V
- Recommended operating voltage: 4.5 to 32 V
- Direct current at 55 °C: 4 A
- Direct current at a temperature of 150 °C: 8 A
- Maximum current: 40 A
- LED color: green
- Dimensions: 20 x 25 x 4 mm
- Weight: 2.7 g
Advantages
- Small size
- Protection against the reverse current
- The ability to connect multiple switches for better control
- Better characteristics than in the mechanical switches
- The ability of the self-shutdown
- The possibility of the digital control via external devices
- Compatible pins with the brteadboard, pitch of the 2.54 mm
Disadvantages
- The switch is one-directional (the voltage VOUT cannot be switched to VIN)
- A limited range of voltages
- The switch can lose its status when the power is removed (turned off by default, when you first power up but it can be enabled by default in the upper operating range).
- Only works with DC
- The lack of the full isolation in the off state
Use of the switch
During the basic use, just use the built-in button. One press turns on the power, and another turns them off. More advanced settings are controlled by the remaining pins:
Pin | Description |
---|---|
VIN | Supply voltage. |
VOUT | Output voltage. |
GND | The ground of the system. |
A |
Connection using the temporary button with the B pin for normal operation of ON/OFF. Connection using the temporary button with the ground for the continuous operation. |
B | Connect using the temporary button with the A pin for normal operation ON/OFF. |
ON | Higher impulse with the amplitude of more than 1 V at this pin, turns on the switch. |
OFF | Higher impulse with the amplitude of more than 1 V at this pin, turns off the switch. |
CTRL | Direct control over the status of the switch. High status (more than 1 V) turns on the switch, low status turns it off. Not connected, it does not set the status of the switch. You should not set simultaneously the pins of "CTRL" and " OFF " to the high status. |
