How does an e-paper display with NFC work?
An e-paper display uses microcapsules containing pigment particles that, when arranged with an electrical charge, create a permanent, readable image. This technology requires no backlight or energy to maintain the content—the image is kept "frozen" until updated.
The Waveshare 2.9" model is based on passive NFC technology, which allows you to:
- power the screen wirelessly
- upload a new image from your phone or reader
The display requires no power or wiring, and all you need to update it is an NFC-enabled smartphone or compatible reader.
Once refreshed, the display maintains the image until the next update, without consuming any power.
