OpenMV Cam H7 R2 is a board produced by SparkFun and features two key components - the STM32H7 microcontroller and the OpenMV Cam H7 R2 image sensor camera MT9M114. The module is low-power and efficient, enabling easy deployment of real-world machine vision applications. The advantage of the module is that it can be upgraded according to individual needs - for professional machine vision applications you can use the Global Shutter Camera Module and for thermal imaging applications you can use the FLIR Lepton adapter module.

OpenMV Cam H7 R2 - overview

The OpenMV Cam H7 R2 module is programmed in Python (MicroPython), which greatly facilitates processing the complex output of machine vision algorithms and working with high-level data structures. OpenMV is the ideal choice for applications including frame differencing, face detection, color and tag tracking, QR code detection/decoding, shape detection, image capture, and more.

  • Full speed 12 Mbps USB interface to PC
  • MicroSD card slot capable of reading/writing data at 100 Mbps, which allows the OpenMV camera to take pictures and easily download machine vision resources from the μSD card
  • SPI bus capable of up to 80 Mbps, allowing image data to be streamed from the LCD system, WiFi or microcontroller
  • I2C bus with speed up to 1 Mb/s, CAN bus with speed up to 1 Mb/s and asynchronous serial bus (TX / RX, with speed up to 7.5 Mb/s)
  • 12-bit ADC and 12-bit DAC
  • Two I/O pins for servo control
  • Interrupt and PWM pins on all I/O pins (there are 10 I/O pins on the board)
  • RGB LED and two 850nm high power IR LEDs
  • 32 MB of external 32-bit SDRAM clocked at 100 MHz for 400 MB/s throughput
