Description
Module from theGrove series, based on optical rotary encoderTCUT1600X01 with the infrared light emitter and two phototransistor sensors and the systemMP3120. It is powered with the voltage from3.3 V to 5.5 V. It communicates with the microcontroller via the pins SIG1 and SIG2 changing the state from high to low. The kit includes a cable adapted to SeeedstudioBase Shield v2.0.The manufacturer provides detailed instructions, along with sample codes sourcesforArduino on its website.

Pins
The system has four pins on special connector to which the cable included is in the package. By default, the states on the pins SIG1 and SIG2 are high, in that moment, when some object interrupts the infrared light beam in the gap, the state changes to low. Thus, it is possible to detect the movement or rotation, for example, of the engine. Through the use of two phototransistorsensors, the module isable to detect also the direction of rotation.
