Product description: SparkFun RTK Facet - for geodetic measurements - SparkFun GPS-19984
SparkFun RTK Facet is a device used to perform measurements in RTK - Real Time Kinematic technology . This type of measurement uses satellites because they provide the most precise values that are required in geolocation and surveying. SparkFun RTK Facet has a built-in ESP32 WROOM chip with a dual-core 32-bit Xtensa LX6 microprocessor clocked up to 240 MHz, 16 MB of Flash memory and 520 KB of internal SRAM memory. The device also has an integrated WiFi 802.11 b / g / n transceiver and Bluetooth dual-mode (classic and BLE).
What is RTK?
The abbreviation comes from the English term for Real Time Kinematic ( RTK GPS) and describes the technology of precise measurements that are performed using satellite navigation. RTK measurement has centimeter accuracy and is obtained in real time (without performing calculations after measurement in the so-called post-processing). RTK is a measurement technology used in geodesy and cartography because they enable very fast determination of the position of the satellite antenna phase center of the receiver. SparkFun RTK Facet can be used in four modes:
- GNSS positioning (accuracy ~ 30 cm) - also known as "Rover"
- GNSS Positioning with RTK (1.4cm accuracy) - also known as "Rover with RTK Fix"
- GNSS Base Station
- GNSS Base Station NTRIP Server
