One DC motor up to 40 V with current sensing and limiting
Pololu MPQ6612A is an H-bridge module from MPS for driving a single brushed DC motor in both directions, at a motor voltage of 4 V to 40 V. It delivers about 4 A continuously. You control it with two PWM inputs with 1.5 V to 5 V logic, so you can connect it to an Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico.
The driver measures the motor current: the VISEN output gives 200 mV per amp, and the built-in current limit is set to 7.5 A by default. It has overcurrent, thermal and reverse power protection, and LEDs show the direction and speed of the motor.

Did you know?
LEDs that show motor movement
There are two LEDs on the board: the brightness shows the speed and the color shows the direction of rotation. They work even without a motor connected, so you can check the control signals before mounting the drive.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the driver not respond to signals?
Most often the SLEEP input is low. The driver is asleep by default and you need to apply a voltage of 1.5 V to 5.5 V to SLEEP. The VCC output is not suitable for this because it is off in sleep mode.
How do I reduce the current limit?
The limit is set by the ISET resistor. To reduce it, you need to remove the 2 kΩ resistor from the board and add your own with a higher value.
Can I brake the motor?
Yes. Controlling the IN1 and IN2 inputs lets you choose rotation in both directions, coasting or braking.
