Product description: Air cleanliness sensor PM1.0 / PM2.5 / PM10 - PMS3003P - 5V UART and PWM
Theair cleanliness sensor allows for measurement of suspended particlesPM1.0, PM2.5andPM10. Thesensorequipped with the module allows to detect particles with a diameterabove 0.3 μm. The chip is powered by 5 V, the logic voltage is 3.3 V, the module communicates through theUARTandPWMinterfaces.
The sensor works based on a laser chip. A fan sucks air through the inlet, then the sensor takes a measurement as the particles pass through the laser beam, so the light source is covered and the differences in light are analysed by the detector and converted to a digital signal.
Application and installation of PMS3003P.
The PMS3003P PM1.0 / PM2.5 / PM10 - 5V UART and PWM air purity sensor is perfect for measuring the quality of air indoors, but the wide temperature range in which it can work(from -10°C to 60°C) also allows its use outdoors (after applying the appropriate housing).
Its small size allows easy integration into a project and integration with the target device's casing. When designing, it is important to ensure undisturbed air flow both on the inlet side and at the outlet duct. The module has two mounting holes for simple and robust fixing.
Included
- PMS3003P sensor
- Connection cable
Connection
The sensor is equipped with 8 pins, which description can be found in the table.
PIN | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Pin 1 | VCC - 5V power supply. |
Pin 2 | Device ground. |
Pin 3 | SET pin. |
Pin 4 | RXD - UART receiver Operates at 3.3 V. |
Pin 5 | TXD - UART transmitter. Operates with a voltage of 3.3 V. |
Pin 6 | Reset. Operates with a voltage of 3.3 V. |
Pin 7 | Not connected. |
Pin 8 | PWM output. |
The device operates with a voltage of 3.3 V, to connect to a device operating with a higher voltage we recommend using avoltage converter.
PMS3003P air quality module
PMS3003P air quality sensor is based on an optical (laser) method for measuring the content of particulate matter. Laser light falling on particles flying through the measurement chamber is scattered and detected by the built-in photodetector. The signal from the photosensitive element is then amplified, filtered and analysed by the internal processor.
The PMS3003P module has an 8-pin connector, providing the user with both power rails (GND and +5V), as well as a control pin (SET), a reset line (RESET) and the input and output of the UART interface (RXD, TXD) and PWM. Importantly, the sensor is designed to work with microcontrollers with I/O line voltages up to 3.3V. When connecting to 5-volt systems (e.g.Arduino), a logic level converter should be used.
