Product description: Fermion - nitrogen dioxide NO2 sensor - MEMS - 0.1-10 ppm - DFRobot SEN0574

A sensor from DFRobot designed to detect the concentration of nitrogen dioxide NO2 and other pollutants present in the room. The module uses MEMS technology, which not only allows for obtaining highly precise measurements in the range of 0.1 ppm to 10 ppm , but also minimizes the size of the board, ensures low energy consumption and significantly reduces heat generation by the system. The sensor is used in the implementation of alarm systems , primarily related to the control of gas emissions from vehicles, as well as when monitoring toxic gas leaks in industrial processes.

Fermion - nitrogen dioxide NO2 sensor - MEMS - 0.1-10 ppm - DFRobot SEN0574.

Monitoring and regulating NO2 concentrations in the air are an important element of protecting public health and the environment.

What is nitrogen dioxide and where is it found?

Nitrogen dioxide, NO2, is a brown-red gas with a sharp, characteristic odor. It is toxic and is one of the main components of photochemical smog, which makes it a significant threat to people and the environment. NO2 is produced mainly by the burning of fossil fuels by cars, power plants and other industrial sources. Nitrogen dioxide is also crucial in atmospheric processes, including the formation of ozone at ground level and nitric acid - it contributes to the occurrence of acid precipitation.

NO2 is also present in tobacco smoke and may be emitted by some household appliances - for example gas stoves. Long-term exposure to high NO2 concentrations may cause lung damage and increases the risk of asthma.

Suggested use of the sensor

  • Indoor air quality monitoring
  • Alarm systems for detecting leaks in gas stoves
  • Protecting public health and the environment
  • Scientific research to analyze the impact of air pollution on health and the environment
  • Developed new technologies to reduce pollutant emissions

Special features of the sensor

  • It has a modernized MEMS system for precise NO2 measurement.
  • Compact dimensions (13 x 13 x 2.4 mm) allow for easy integration with other project components.
  • It has low energy consumption.
  • Provides precise and stable value reading.
  • It has high sensitivity and short response time.

Precautions during use

  • Before using the sensor, remove the protective film.
  • Avoid using it in an environment where it will be exposed to high concentrations of corrosive gases (such as H2S, SOX, Cl2, HCl, among others).
  • Protect the sensor from contamination with alkalis, alkali metal salts and halogens.
  • Avoid long-term exposure of the tile to unfavorable conditions (such as high temperatures, high humidity, high pollution).
  • Do not expose the module to water.
  • Do not expose the module to vibrations, impacts or falls from height.
  • Do not test the module on systems that involve personal security concerns.
