Hub M2 is a network gateway from Aqara , which is equipped with the Zigbee 3.0 protocol that allows you to connect up to 128 devices to it (amplification devices are required). It is compatible with Apple Home Kit . The gateway is supported by infrared control, which enables the operation of IR devices such as a TV or air conditioner and their control using voice assistants. It also supports RJ45 wired Ethernet connection, providing additional stability and faster response time.

Aqara in collaboration with Matter
Aqara has equipped Hub M2 with the latest software version 4.0.0 (beta), thanks to which Zigbee devices will become compatible with Matter. The new connectivity standard for IoT enables a wide range of Smart Home accessories to work together, regardless of brand or ecosystem.
The new firmware is a BETA version, so it may contain some bugs. If you experience these issues, try disconnecting from Matter and then adding the hub back to the app.
Zigbee technology
ZigBee technology is an open standard for radio communication. Individual sensors, based on the ZigBee protocol, use a common control unit (gateway). Mesh topology (mesh) guarantees stable communication between the control unit and individual system elements, because each receiver is also a transmitter . Damage to one device does not result in stopping the operation of the entire network. The ZigBee 3.0 version was developed with particular emphasis on use in Internet of Things systems and Smart Home systems.
