Otter Lite in a wired version for your computer
Creality Otter Lite Basic is a handheld 3D scanner that captures the shape and color of objects from 20 mm to 2 m, accurate to 0.05 mm. It uses infrared structured light.
The Basic version is a wired scanner from the Creality Otter Lite series without the Lite Bridge handle with a battery. You scan over a USB 3.0 cable connected to your computer, so you do not have to keep an eye on the battery charge level.

What sets this model apart
Otter Lite optics in a wired version
Same lenses, color camera and scanning range as the Otter Lite, but it connects via a USB 3.0 cable instead of WiFi. Wireless scanning needs the Lite Bridge handle.

Four lenses: for details and for large objects
The scanner has two pairs of stereo cameras. The longer focal length pair scans small objects and captures more detail, while the shorter pair covers large objects, even a car.
In close mode it sees a field of 100 x 62 mm in one shot from 120 mm, and in far mode up to 1460 x 1017 mm from 1200 mm. You can set the 3D mesh resolution from 0.1 mm to 2 mm.
Black and shiny objects without spray
The scanner projects a near-infrared light pattern onto the object, generated by a DOE diffractive element. Thanks to this, per the manufacturer, the Otter Lite scans black and metal parts, such as tires, without matting spray, and it works in daylight of up to 30,000 lux.
The RGB camera with proprietary color mapping records the texture in a 24-bit palette, and two white LEDs illuminate the object in low light, which helps when you scan indoors.

Face and full body in about a minute
The face and body mode has a separate algorithm that better reproduces features and hair. The manufacturer states that a scan of the whole figure takes about a minute.
Infrared light is invisible to the eye, and the scanner laser is Class 1, which is eye-safe. For this reason, the manufacturer states that scanning skin and faces is safe for people.
Is this the right choice for you?
A good choice if:
- you scan at a computer in a workshop and do not need wireless scanning
- you want to scan objects from small parts to car components with one device
- you design replacements and accessories for 3D printing

- you want to walk around a car without a cable: choose the Otter Lite with Lite Bridge

Fun fact
From a seashell to a car
The manufacturer shows the Otter Lite range with two extremes: a 20 x 20 x 20 mm seashell and a 2000 x 2000 x 2000 mm car. One scanner handles both by switching lens pairs.

Frequently asked questions
Basic or Otter Lite: what is different?
It is the same scanner, only without the Lite Bridge handle with a battery and WiFi 6. You work over a USB 3.0 cable connected to your computer, with no battery to charge.
Can it work without a computer?
No. The scan is processed by the CrealityScan software on a computer running 64-bit Windows 10/11 or macOS.
What computer is required?
The manufacturer states a minimum requirement of an 8th generation Intel i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM, and recommends a 7th generation i7 or newer, an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM. On a Mac, it recommends an Apple M1, M2 or M3 processor and 16 GB of RAM.
Do I need to use markers?
Not always: the scanner aligns shots by geometry or texture, so markers help mainly on smooth objects.
Can I scan black paint or chrome?
The manufacturer states that the Otter Lite scans black and metal surfaces without spray. With strong reflections, change the exposure with the scanner button.
In what formats can I save the model?
CrealityScan exports models to OBJ, STL and PLY formats, so you can open the file in 3D printing software.

30 days to return, without giving a reason
