Revopoint POP 4: 5 scanning modes
Revopoint POP 4 is a 3D scanner for handheld and tripod use that combines a blue laser with infrared light and scans with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm. Its five modes include fast scanning with 30 laser lines, a single line for deep holes and three structured light modes.
The Premium Edition kit includes a carrying case, a battery handle with a power cable and magnetic blue filters for work in sunlight. The additional 300 markers together with the 200 from the Standard version make 500 markers in total.

What sets this model apart
A laser for details and a VCSEL for large objects
The POP 4 combines 30 crossing lines of a blue laser for fine details with a VCSEL projector that scans from a distance of up to 800 mm, so with one scanner you capture a small machine part and a whole human figure. Remember that the software does not run on Linux or on Mac computers with an Intel processor, so prepare a Windows computer or a Mac with an Apple processor.

Revopoint POP 4 Premium Edition
Five modes for different surfaces
High Speed mode projects 30 crossing lines of a blue laser and scans flat, shiny and dark surfaces without matting spray, at up to 2 million points per second and 105 fps. The single laser line mode captures deep holes, grooves and complex shapes.
Full-Field HD mode scans people, faces and objects with infrared light without markers, at up to 5 million points per second. VCSEL scans larger objects and people at up to 30 fps, and Hybrid HD combines both modes for fast surface modeling.
Accuracy 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm x L
The single-frame accuracy is up to 0.03 mm in line laser mode, up to 0.08 mm in Full-Field mode and from 0.10 mm to 0.20 mm in VCSEL mode, depending on the distance. The volumetric accuracy in multi-line mode is described by the formula 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm x L, where L is the length of the object in meters.
The laser works from a distance of 170 mm to 370 mm and at close range covers a field of 103 x 116 mm. The Full-Field HD and Hybrid HD modes work from a distance of 200 mm to 500 mm, and VCSEL up to 800 mm, where one shot covers a field of 492 x 546 mm.

Scanning in sunlight and in color
The high-intensity VCSEL projector scans even in direct sunlight, at a light intensity of up to 100,000 lx. With the magnetic blue filter from the Premium Edition kit, the blue laser also works in such conditions, so you can scan details outdoors too.
The RGB camera records color, so the POP 4 is suitable for scanning artworks, prototypes and monuments. From the point cloud and the camera image, the software also creates a 3D Gaussian Splatting model at a 1:1 scale, which faithfully reproduces the appearance of the object.
Wireless: phone and battery
The scanner has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 4.1, and connects wirelessly with an iOS or Android phone. You can operate Full-Field mode from the phone alone, while multi-line laser scans are computed by the computer, which sends the image to the phone in the Revo Mirror app.
The 5500 mAh battery handle from the Premium Edition kit powers the scanner for about 4 h at average power consumption. You hold the scanner, which weighs 286 g and measures 160 x 30 x 72 mm, in one hand, and four buttons on the housing control scanning without reaching for the computer.

From scan to CAD model
The POP 4 is part of the Revopoint toolset: you transfer a scan from the POP 4 to the Revo Design software to build a CAD model, or to Revo Measure to check dimensions. Revo Design and Revo Measure licenses are not included in the Premium Edition kit.
The Revo Scan 6 software is used for scanning, editing and merging scans, and you save the finished model in PLY, OBJ, STL, ASC, 3MF, GLTF, FBX and Splat formats, also as a file ready for 3D printing. Real-time AI segmentation separates the object from the background, which shortens scan processing.

Fun fact
A 1:1 scale model with Gaussian Splatting
Instead of just a triangle mesh, the POP 4 can save a scan as a 3D Gaussian Splatting model, which combines a point cloud with the RGB camera image and faithfully reproduces the appearance of the object. The manufacturer states that its patented variant of this technique is physically scaled, so the model keeps its 1:1 dimensions.
Frequently asked questions
Does the POP 4 scan outdoors?
Yes. The VCSEL projector scans in light of up to 100,000 lx, also in full sunlight, and the blue laser works in such conditions with the magnetic filter from the Premium Edition kit.
How long does the POP 4 run on battery?
The POP 4 runs for about 4 h at average power consumption. That is provided by the 5500 mAh battery handle, which is included in the Premium Edition kit together with the power cable.
Do I need markers?
Not always. The infrared structured light modes scan without markers, and the kit includes 500 markers.
Do I have to use spray?
Usually not. In High Speed mode the POP 4 scans flat, shiny and dark surfaces without spray, but the manufacturer recommends coating transparent and mirror-like objects with scanning spray.
Does the POP 4 work with a phone?
Yes. You can operate Full-Field mode from the phone alone, e.g. with Android 11 and 12 GB RAM or an iPhone newer than the X. Laser mode requires a computer, and the phone then shows a preview.
What computer do I need for the POP 4?
The minimum is Windows with a 13th generation Intel i7 or an AMD Ryzen 7 5800, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 3060 8 GB card, or a Mac with an M1 Pro and 16 GB RAM. The manufacturer recommends a 12th generation Intel i9, 32 GB RAM and an RTX 4060.
