Product description: SparkFun Qwiic Ultrasonic Distance Sensor - 2-400cm ultrasonic distance sensor - HC-SR04 - SparkFun SEN-17777
Ultrasonic distance sensor from SparkFun. It works in the range from 2 cm to 400 cm , with an accuracy of 3 mm . The detection angle is 15 degrees . The sensor has Qwiic connectors that facilitate the connection process with the microcontroller - Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
How an ultrasonic motion sensor works
The ultrasonic distance (motion) sensor measures on the basis of an ultrasonic wave. It has two terminals: transmitting TRIG and receiving ECHO. TRIG sends a sound signal (with an inaudible frequency), which returns when it bounces off an obstacle and is processed by ECHO. The time of return of the reflected signal and the speed of propagation of the sound wave in the air - 340 m / s are used to determine the distance. In short:
distance from the obstacle [cm] = (signal return time [us] * 34) / 1000/2

How to connect the ultrasonic sensor - description of the HC-SR04 leads
The ultrasonic distance sensor has Qwiic connectors for quick and convenient connection and four pins to which the goldpin connector included in the kit should be soldered (when choosing this connection method):
- 3.3V : supply voltage
- TRIG : sensor input (wake up)
- ECHO : sensor output (response)
- GND : system ground
