Presentation of the applications of the Qwiic system.

What is Qwiic?

Qwiic SparkFun is an ecosystem that includes numerous sensors based on the I2C bus, executive modules and dedicated cables. The main assumption of this solution is to improve the prototyping process. All elements supporting the Qwiic standard use a common, 4-pin JST connector with a spacing of 1 mm. This reduces the amount of space required on the PCB. It also protects against connection inconsistent with the polarity.

The pins of the module

  • 3v3 (In) - module power supply
  • GND (In) - the ground of the system
  • SDA (In) - data line of the I2C interface
  • SCL (In) - clock line of the I2C interface
  • INT (Out) - interrupt pin (low state when data is ready)
  • SHUT (In) - shutdown pin (can be dragged low to put the system into off mode)

On the board we can also find, among others two Qwiic connectors and a LED indicating power supply of the module. Details are available in the user manual prepared by the manufacturer.
