Product description: Grove - module with double red alphanumeric display 0.54".
Grove modulewith 2-digit alphanumeric displaywith high brightness and red backlight,each digit consists of 14 segments. Popular 7-segment displays can only display digits from 0 to 9 and a limited number of letters, while the 14-segment digital displayhas no such limitation andcan displayall characters,which is why it is called alphanumeric.

To control the 14-segment display you need 17 wires or more, which means that most of the IO pins in your control board will be busy. With the HT16K33 chipandGroveconnector built into the module, you cancontrol the display using theI2Cinterfaceand only 4 wires.
