Quadruped walking platform Unitree Go1 Edu with Lidar 2D laser scanner. Robo dog Unitree Go1 is an advanced platform for research and development of autonomous systems in the field of robot-human interaction, SLAM and transportation. The four-legged robot moves thanks to 12DoF sensors . Unitree Go1 robots are recognized as the fastest four-legged robots of 2022. The maximum speed of Unitree Go1 Edu is 3.7 m/s . The robot can move an object weighing up to 5 kg. Unitree Go1 Edu Explorer is based on two Nvidia Jetson Nano modules and one additional Nvidia Jetson NX module. The set also includes a special aluminum protection frame for self-assembly allowing the robot to be suspended during movement testing in order to prevent the robot dog from tipping over. The frame is packed separately.

Controlling the Unitree Go1 robot

The Unitree Go1 kit also includes a dedicated controller, similar to drone controls or gaming console pads. Two sticks are used to control the basic movements of the robot, which allow you to move to the right, left, forward, backward. There are also numerous function buttons on the controller, with the help of which the robot can perform specific sequences of movements , e.g. in the robot's head makes it much easier to move around the environment. Unitree Go1 also copes with lifting in the form of e.g. curbs and stairs, thanks to the function of walking up the stairs, after activating which, the robot raises its legs higher.

High-quality mechanical components

The Unitree Go1 features high quality "joints" with very low weight, low noise and long life. The motors placed in the robot's knee joints are cooled by means of heat dissipation tubes placed inside them. The robot is equipped with C1-8 body/thigh joint motors with a mass of 520 g and a torque of 23.7 Nm , and C1-8 knee joints with a factor of 1.5 and a torque of 35.55 Nm.

Intelligent tracking system

Unitree has patented wireless positioning and vector control technology in Go1 robots. The robot can walk right next to the human leg , which is a much better solution than the standard tracking mode. Besides, the human-machine interaction is harmonious and safe. Thanks to this, there is also no reason to worry that the robot will lose connection, it will always be right next to you. This feature will also allow the robot to choose a better route.

A system of advanced sensors and artificial intelligence

The Go1 Air dog robot is equipped with 5 sets of stereo cameras (depth camera) with a wide-angle lens (Fish-eye) + AI Post-processing + a set of 3 hypersonic sensors . Two Nvidia Jetson Nano modules with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.43 GHz and a graphics system with 128 CUDA cores 0.5 TFlops and one additional Nvidia Jetson NX module are responsible for the control.

2D laser scanner - Slamtec M2M2

The Unitree Go1 Edu robot is equipped with a Slamtec M2M2 2D laser scanner with a measuring range of 0.1 m to 40 m. The scanner is equipped with a brushless motor ensuring reliable operation of the device and a speed of movement of 2 m/s. The laser sampling rate is 9.2k and the scanning speed is 8Hz to 15Hz with 0.391° angular resolution and 360° coverage. The measuring resolution of the scanner is 3 cm, and the accuracy is 5 cm. Thanks to the scanner placed on the body of the robot, it is possible to create precise 2D maps of the rooms in which the robot moves.
