The Simatic IOT2050 smart, easily upgradable IoT gateway from Siemens. The industrial gateway/computer acquires, processes, harmonizes and records machine and production data from multiple sources directly on site at the production facility and then transmits it to a local server or the cloud, for example. The device easily connects to the open, cloud-based IoT operating system MindSphere developed by Siemens. The computer is based on an ARM TI AM6528 processor with an embedded graphics controller, 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and mPCIe slots and an Arduino compatible with Uno Rev3. The device is powered by 12 V to 24 V DC.

The amount of data sent to the cloud is significantly reduced so that bandwidth can be used optimally. The Simatic IOT2050 intelligent IoT gateway connects internal IT, manufacturing and cloud departments and combines data from a wide range of data sources. The Simatic IOT2050 provides maximum performance with powerful Texas Instrument ARM processors and multiple interfaces such as mPCIe for wireless cards, Gbit LAN and two USB ports as well as one serial and one Arduinoport. The gateway is also configured not only for data transmission but also for data aggregation, conversion of a range of communication protocols and preprocessing in high-level languages such as Java, C++, Arduino IDE and Eclipse.
