Description
BPi R1 is a router for home usage, equipped with 1 GB of RAM, the A20 ARM® Cortex™-A7 Dual-Core 1 GHz processor, as well as connectors: USB, slot for microSDcards, HDMI, Jack. Board also has 26 GPIO pins, and communication interfaces UART, I2C, SPI. Thanks to the SATA connector, the user can connect a drive of up to 2 TB. Built-in buttons: Reset, Power and IR receiver are useful during the operation of the module.

The router has 5 network sockets RJ45 and wi-fi module working in a standard N with the speed of up to 300 Mbps. SATA connectors allow, in a simple way, to connect a hard drive. |

The picture and sound
Banana Pi has a HDMI port, through which you can send both picture and sound. In addition, the board is equipped with the jack connector, to which connect can be headphones or led out an analog video signal.
Operating system
Drive of the Banana Pi is amemory microSD card.The operating systemcan be uploaded via the computer with the reader. The board supports i.a. systems: Android, Android 4.4, Debian, Ubuntu and Raspbian. Installation guide of the system can be found atthis address.
Communication
Banana Pi has basic communication interfaces that can be found in office computers of PC class. In addition to the previously listed connectors for audio and video, the user has at his or her disposal:
- a USB connector to which can be connected, for example, a mouse, a keyboard, a wi-fi card or USB flash drive. If you find that the slots are too short, you can increase their number using an external USB HUB.
- 5 Ethernet slots, that is a possibility of a direct LAN connection 10/100/1000 Mbps.
- the wifi module - Banana Pi M1+ has a built-in wi-fi module.
- 26 x GPIO- outputs/inputs with general purpose that can be used to control the LEDs, buttons, drivers of motors. Among them are the pins supporting interfaces: I2C, SPI and UART.
- SATA connector - to connect the drive with thecapacity of up to 2TB
The device is designed in such a way that the board can have the hard drive connected to the corresponding SATA slot.
Power
As a power source, the system uses the microUSB connector. In practice, this means that to run the Banana Pi, you can use the charger for mobile phones with the capacity of at least 2 A, for example,the power supply Extreme.
