6 VDC water pump - parameters and construction
The small water pump, powered from 3 V to 12 V DC and consuming up to 1200 mA of current, offers a liquid flow rate of 1.2 l/min on a 5 V power supply. The 4 mm diameter ferrules allow the pump to be connected to installations built with flexible hoses (e.g. silicone). The pump's motor has a diameter of 27 mm and the whole device is 60 mm long. The weight of the pump is 70 g.
The pump works similarly to a central heating water pump (the so-called circulation pump used in heating installations) - two connections (input and output) enable operation in a closed circuit. To control the motor one can use for example an electromagnetic relay or a module with a transistor with a current efficiency of 2 A or more.
Applications for Mini Water Pumps
The range of potential applications of miniature hydraulic pumps includes both amateur devices for home use (e.g. automatic watering system for potted flowers) and all kinds of mock-ups - e.g. realistic installation of fountains in railway mock-ups.
The 6 V water pump can also be used in professional devices for cleaning, humidifying, etc. It can also be used for didactic purposes - e.g. as a part of a model of a larger automation system, presenting ways to implement production processes in various industries.
